Board and finish decide how the card feels
A visiting card is handed over and held. The stock does most of the work, and the finish is what the other person notices a second later.
- Matte board
- The everyday card. Takes pen, and does not show fingerprints.
- Gloss laminated
- Colours look stronger. The usual pick for shops and showrooms.
- Thick cotton board
- Heavy and soft, the stock used for letterpress.
- Textured and linen
- A woven surface you notice when you hand the card over.
Finishes for visiting cards
- Spot UVA glossy shape on a matte card, often the logo alone.
- Gold foilHot stamped, for the name or the logo.
- Silver foilThe cooler metallic, for modern marks.
- EmbossingRaised logo you can feel with your thumb.
- LetterpressType pressed deep into thick board.
- Rounded cornersCut after printing, on any of the stocks.
